Florence Rodway was a student at the Julian Ashton Art School in the late 1890s before winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy schools in London, where she was a student of John Sargent and Solomon J Solomon, amongst others. She returned to Australia in 1906, where she practiced her art until her death in 1971. Standing 47.5cm high, this portrait bust is a fine copy of a piece modelled by her friend and fellow Artist, Mildred Lovett, during the time they both attended JAAS.
